This option
prepares students for professional positions in the food processing industry or
for graduate study in Food Science and related fields. Food
science is an applied science in which the biological and physical sciences and
engineering are used to study the nature of foods, the causes of their
deterioration, and principles of food processing. Food technology is the application of food science to the selection,
preservation, processing, packaging, distribution, and use of safe, nutritious
and wholesome food.
The program of
study includes
food technology, human nutrition, food processing and
engineering, and other foundation courses such as biology and
chemistry.
